On April 15th, 2014, Dr. Oyediran Ibrahim Adewuyi, a lecturer from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria’s premier university, presented a report titled “Soil-Rock Mixtures or Bimrocks? A Review". Dr Adewuyi was a recipient of a CAS-TWAS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and his presentation, organized by the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, marked the end of his one year fellowship. The meeting was co-chaired by Che Jianguo and Chang Zhonghua. Also in attendance were Song Yuhuan (Director of Education Office), international students and graduate students of the institute. During the report presentation, the atmosphere was warm and highly interactive. The Examination Committee, composed of Professors Li Xiao, Liu Daan, Hu Ruilin and associate professor Zhang Luqing and some other experts, fully affirmed the work done by Dr. Adewuyi and his achievements in scientific research. They agreed that the recruitment of international postdoctoral researchers was a key way to increase the influence of our Institute and to contribute to the scientific training of developing countries, and thus should be promoted. After the report, Professor Zhu Rixiang, the Director and Head of the Institute, awarded a Postdoctoral Scholarship Certificate to Dr. Adewuyi and had a cordial conversation with the international students who also attended the presentation.

Dr. Adewuyi was also funded by the China National Postdoctoral Foundation and started his one-year postdoctoral research work in April, 2013. His research work on Soil-Rock Mixtures was under the guidance of his host Professor Hu Ruilin and recently he completed his postdoctoral research work and will return to the University of Ibadan at the end of April.
