Vice President for International Earth Science Association comes to visitProfessor Jacques Charvet, vice president for International Earth Science Association, was invited by Professor LIN Wei to visit on December 22, 2010. Professor Charvet made a report on Paleozoic tectonic and geodynamic evolution of Chinese Tianshan Belt. He summarized the understanding of Chinese and foreign geologists on the Tianshan Paleozoic orogenic belt, introduced his own nearly a decade of field work on Tianshan Mountains, given a view on the process of orogenic collage and the dynamic mechanism, He discussed with research staff and graduate students in a wide range. Jacques Charvet is French specialII(the highest)honorary professor. Since 1987, he has been interested mainly in researches on southern China and the Tianshan Mountains - Junggar Basin. That he proposed subduction polarity of the Tianshan and the Junggar plate caused widespread repercussions in international Earth Science.
