This laboratory focuses on the application of fundamental research and technology development. Through the cross-integration of engineering geology, hydrogeology, applied geophysics and geomechanics, the laboratory contributes to the advancement of engineering geology applied to study structural characteristics, deformation and fractures. They also develop detection techniques to study fine geological structures and large scale scientific equipment aimed at solving the challenges related to China’s key engineering projects involving engineering geology, geological disasters, water resources and environmental issues The laboratory also works to provide engineering geomechanic theory and technology support in regard to the exploration of China’s deep underground energy resources.
