Professor Hyecong-Dong Park, Secretary general of South Korean national group of IAEG, Visited the IGGCAS

Invited by the Key Laboratory of Engineering Geomechanics of CAS and China National Group of IAEG, Professor Hyecong-Dong Park , General secretary of China National Group of IAEG, from Seoul National University, paid a visit to our institute on 25th Nov, 2009. Prof Wu Faquan, vice-chairman of IAEG, director assistant of IGGCAS interviewed him and gave a warm welcome.

After interview, Prof. Hyecong-Dong Park gave a lecture titled Geology controlled slope stability, and Prof. Wu presided the seminar.

Prof. Park introduced the geologic factors in landslide first, and showed failure characteristics of slopes under different lithologic, tectonic, hydrologic conditions all around the world. Prof. Wu gave a brief talk about landslide hazards and geological problem in man-made high slope from China, wishing Sino-Korea exchange and further cooperation on geological engineering.

Prof. Park visited some laboratories in IGGCAS, including the rock mechanics laboratory, electron microprobe laboratory and viewed the samples from Antarctica after the seminar, he praised the research achievement in China on geological engineering. Professor Liu Da’an,Dr. Qi Shengwen accompanied him during the visit.

Prof.Wu Faquan gave a host for Prof. Park on lunch time. They discussed the research focuses on geological engineering research worldwild at present and further plan of Sino-Korea symposium in future.
