Frontier and Development Forum of Sedimentology was held in the Institute of Geology and GeophysicsThe Frontier and Development Forum of Sedimentology (2009) was held in the Institute of Geology and Geophysics on April 12, 2009. The main topic of this Forum is Sedimentary Records of Significant Geological Events and Earth System, Tectonic Revolution and Basin Dynamics. The Forum was sponsored by Branch of Basin Dynamics and Branch of Organic geochemistry of the Chinese Committee of Sedimentary Geology, Branch of Earth Science of NSFC, and the State Key Laboratory of Lithospheric Evolution.More than 10 people reported their recent reaching results, including fauna and environmental change in the turn of Ordovician and Silurian, Topographic change in Central Asia since Jurassic, Tectono-topographic evolution and their sedimentary response during the key evolution period, Sedimentary records of Paleozoic basin-and-range dynamics in Tianshan, Global positive excursion of carbon isotope in the Paleo-Proterozoic period, “Deep time” and new development in sedimentology, Marinoan snowball event in the south China, and others. More than 170 people, most of them are young scholars, attended the Forum and made an active discussion. The organizing committee decided to hold the second forum in China University of Petroleum next year.
