Prof. Xiaoping Yang was elected as a new fellow of the Geological Society of America (GSA) at the 2014 spring council meeting. He was recognized at the 2014 GSA Annual Meeting Awards Ceremony on October 19th in Vancouver. GSA fellowship is an honor that is “bestowed on the best of geological profession”. A total of 59 geologists were elected as the new GSA fellows this year. Among this year’s newly elected GSA Fellows Prof. Xiaoping Yang is the only scholar from the mainland China (GSA website).
