ZHU Rixiang elected Fellow of American Geophysical Union

Recently, Professor ZHU Rixiang is elected Fellow of American Geophysical Union (AGU), who is the first Earth scientist in mainland China honored the Fellow. It shows that Earth science in China has enough influence of the international.

ZHU Rixiangengage in basic theory and experimental research in geophysics. He has achived systematic, innovative results in the polar geomagnetic field during the conversion of morphology, geology of ancient geomagnetic field intensity during the deep Earth processes and the paleomagnetic dating of sedimentary basins. He organize and implement major research project of the destruction of the North China Craton, and has made important progress in ​​the formation and evolution of continent.

AGU is the most influential academic organization of Earth Sciences founded in 1919. AGU annually elect Fellow members from the total number of registered members not exceed 0.1%.The global total is 60 Earth scientists elected in 2011.
