On the morning of April 7, 2025, a delegation from the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP) visited our institute. The three-member delegation included Marc Chaussidon, Director of IPGP; Marc Benedetti, Deputy Director; and Yann Klinger, Chair of the Scientific Committee. They were received by Academician Di Qingyun, Director of our institute, along with Deputy Director Researcher Wan Bo, the head of the Department of Science and Technology, and several key research staff. The meeting was chaired by Wan Bo.
Di Qingyun warmly welcomed the visiting delegation. The head of the Department of Science and Technology provided an overview of the institute’s history, organizational structure, research areas, and recent scientific progress. Marc Chaussidon and Yann Klinger presented an introduction to IPGP and its current scientific research initiatives.
The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including student training, ongoing research collaborations, and future opportunities for cooperation. To formalize their shared vision for enhanced collaboration, Director Marc Chaussidon and Director Di Qingyun signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), underscoring their commitment to strengthening international cooperation and promoting mutual development.
Following the meeting, the delegation toured several of our key research facilities, including the ion probe, atom probe, and accelerator mass spectrometry laboratories. There, they conducted detailed technical exchanges with members of the research staff.
IPGP is a world-renowned French institution for research and higher education, specializing in geophysics, geology, planetary science, and the study of natural hazards. It holds a leading position in global geoscientific research and innovation.
