From September 29 to October 15, a delegation from the China–Brazil Joint Geoscience Research Center (CBRC), led by Director Dr. Peng Peng, along with researchers Fan Hongrui, Yang KuiFeng, Zhou Yanyan, Wang Chong, and two others, visited Brazil and Uruguay. The delegation was warmly received by Professor Ricardo Trindade (Director of the China Center at the University of São Paulo and Head of the Astronomy Institute), Professor Marly Babinski (Head of the Earth Sciences Institute), Professor Wilson Teixeira (Former director and academician of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences), Professor Farid Chemale Junior (Project Chief at the West Valley University and Brazilian Director of the CBRC), and Professor Claudio Gaucher (Faculty of Science, University of the Republic, Uruguay).

On October 1, the delegation participated in the 5th Annual International Symposium on Geological Correlation between Brazil and China (ASGBC5). Topic of discussion included geology, geomagnetism, mineral resources, and environmental challenges. The symposium brought together nearly 20 Brazilian participants, including Professor Elson P. de Oliveira (University of Campinas, and member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences), and Professor Luiz Cesar Correa-Gomes (Federal University of Brasília). Academician Pan Yongxin from our institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, contributed a report via an online session. The delegation also visited the China Center at the University of São Paulo (USP-CC), where discussion on the center's operations and plans for enhancing bilateral cooperation in earth science and related disciplines took place. During the visit, the University of São Paulo officially appointed Professor Ricardo Trindade as the Director of the China Center and Dr. Peng Peng as a member of its steering committee. The China Center aims to strengthen collaborations in Earth sciences, global climate change studies, and cross-cultural exchanges.

On October 8, the delegation visited the Faculty of Science at the University of the Republic of Uruguay. Presentations were made on the geological settings and ongoing research in both China and Uruguay. The discussion explored potential areas of cooperation, including geological mapping, mineral exploration, and tectonic studies. Both sides agreed to jointly collaborate in establishing a China-Uruguay Geoscience Cooperation Platform to facilitate joint research and academic exchange.

From October 2 to 13, the delegation, guided by by Professor Farid Chemale Junior and Professor Claudio Gaucher, conducted extensive field studies on niobium and phosphate mines in the Catalão and Tapira regions of Brazil, the Archean-Proterozoic rock units of the São Francisco Craton, and the geology of the Rio de la Plata Craton in Uruguay.
