On March 5th and 6th, 2024, the Lab of Lithospheric and Environmental Coevolution invited Professor Simon Poulton from the University of Leeds to give two seminars "Reconstructing Earth's Ancient Phosphorus Cycle" and "Phosphorus Controls on Earth's Early Oxygenation History". Researchers from IGG and other institutes attended the seminars and participated in fruitful discussions.
Prof. Simon Poulton's research focuses on the chemical co-evolution of the biosphere, atmosphere, and ocean, using unique tools such as iron and phosphorus speciation. He has published more than 100 research articles in journals like Nature, Science etc., which have been cited by over 18,000 times. Prof. Simon Poulton has received numerous awards such as "Fellow of the European Association of Geochemical Society" and "Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award". He has been recently elected as the recipient of the 2023 CAS PIFI program.
