After a 20-day compact training, the closing ceremony for the training course of “Geochemical analysis and geophysical prospecting techniques for mineral deposits” was held on Oct. 28, which announced success for the training course.

The training course started on October 10, 2023. Prof. DONG Qi from International Cooperation Bureau, and Prof. ZHAO Liang, deputy director of the IGGCAS, respectively delivered speeches for the opening of the training course.

Twenty-three participants from 13 countries, including Ghana, Tanzania, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, participated in the training course. The training content is divided into five parts: First, the theoretical basis of technical methods, teaching the basic principles of relevant geochemical and geophysical technical methods and their application in mineral deposit science; The second was to observe and learn the actual operation of the laboratory, and to understand the process and main instruments of various technical methods on site; The third was the deposit site study, visiting the representative Jiguanshan large molybdenum deposit in Chifeng area, the large Lanzi gold deposit in Chifeng area and the large BIF type iron deposit in east Hebei area; The fourth was a brief introduction to the frontiers and advances of modern mineral deposits and geoscience research, including "three thin" deposits, super-continental cycles, mesoproterozoic great oxidation events and environmental geology. Fifth, important Chinese cultural relics were observed and studied.

At the completion of the training course, Miao Laicheng, the project leader of the training course issued a completion certificate to each student. The participants said that the training arrangement was thoughtful and left them an unforgettable impression. They will certainly share this wonderful experience with their colleagues, relatives and friends in China, and will actively seek cooperation in related fields with IGGCAS in the future.
