A delegation composed of Dr. Mohammed Nafeel Abdul Careem, the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Water Supply of Sri Lanka and six representatives from Peradeniya University and the China Sri Lanka Water Technology Research and Demonstration Joint Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Joint Center") visited IGGCAS on March 14, 2023. Director DI Qingyun, Academician ZHAI Mingguo, Academician LI Xianhua, Prof. PANG Zhonghe, Prof. GUO Jinghui from IGGCAS attended the exchange meeting. 

The Sri Lankan delegation is the first international delegation which visited IGGCAS after COVID-19. DI Qingyun gave a speech on welcoming the delegation and looking forward to more fruitful results of China-Sri Lanka cooperation research in the future. ZHAI Mingguo, LI Xianhua, and GUO Jinghui introduced the background and research progress on China-Sri Lanka cooperation projects, current cooperation status, and future plans. Dr. Weragoda, the Director of the Joint Center, and Professor S.H.Parakrama Kunante introduced the situation of the Joint Center and the University of Peradeniya respectively. Professor XU Chenxi, the head of the Science and Technology Department of IGGCAS introduced the basic situation of the research institute. PANG Zhong and Associate Prof. ZHAO Lei introduced the research background, progress of groundwater and geological cooperation research, respectively. Through in-depth communication, both sides discussed potential directions for future cooperation and expressed their desire to deepen collaborative research.
