Mr. Esmaeil Mehryar, the Counselor of Science and Technology at the Iranian Embassy in China, Professor Sadeghian Mahmoud and Dr. Forough Zolala from Shahrud Institute of Technology in Iran, visited IGGCAS on October 19, 2023.

Academician ZHAI Mingguo,Prof. PENG Peng, Associate Professor ZHU Xiyan, Associate Professor ZHAO Lei, and Foreign Affairs Director ZHOU Zhongxia from IGG attended the meeting.

ZHAI Mingguo introduced the history of cooperation between IGG and the relevant research institutions in Iran in the past decade, as well as the progress of ongoing projects. MS. ZHOU Zhongxia introduced the international talent programs of IGG.

Counselor Ismail Mehjar emphasized that Iran attaches great importance to exchanges with China and expressed desire to promote cooperation in the field of geosciences between the two sides. He said that the Iranian Embassy in China would continue to support scientific research exchanges between Iranian universities and CAS, and expected to strengthen cooperation in postgraduate training, teacher exchange visits and other aspects. After the meeting, Counselor Ismail Meheyar presented a statue of Sheikh Baha'i to ZHAI Mingguo, expressing gratitude for his outstanding contributions in the friendly cooperation between China and Iran.
