Dr. Lian-Feng Zhao, a seismologist from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Science (IGGCAS), attended the seismological society of America (SSA) annual meeting in Pasadena, California, between April 20 and 24, 2015. Following themeeting, he visited the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC) for collaborative research from April 25 to 30, 2015.
The SSA’s 2015 Annual Meeting provides a stimulating exchange of research on a wide range of topics with colleagues from all over the world. Oral presentations, poster sessions, exhibits, field trips, business meetings and social gatherings all provide participants an opportunity to meet and share with their peers. At the meeting, Dr. Lian-Feng Zhao had a poster related to seismic wave propagation and imaging. Illustrated in Fig.1 are some of the activities at the meeting.
During the visit to UCSC, Dr. Lian-Feng Zhao discussed some issues with Dr. Xiao-Bi Xie at the laboratory of seismic modelling and imaging. This included regional wave propagation, tectonophysics in Eurasia, and geology in the Western United States. IGGCAS looks forward to continuing collaborations with UCSC.
