Following the invitation of Academician ZHAI Mingguo, professor Yongsik Ri and his delegation from the Institute of Geology, State Academy of Sciences, DPRK visited our institute for the international cooperation from 8th to 18th November, 2013.

This international visit is supported by the international cooperation project “Comparative study of metamorphic rocks from China and Korea Peninsular”, which is funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

During their visit to China, the delegation accompanied IGGCAS researchers on fieldwork to the early Archean Caozhuang Group in Qian'an, eastern Hebei province, and the classical Proterozoic sedimentary section in Jixian, Tianjin. Additionally, they visited the geothermal resources and exploitation bases in Shunyi and Huairou of Beijing, which are geophysical laboratories in our institute.

The researchers undertook detailed bilateral discussion, exchanged perspectives and future ambitions for the cooperation program and reached an agreement on expanding cooperative research in the fields of mineral resources exploration and earthquake and volcanic activity monitoring.
