Professor Jacques Charvet, vice president for International Earth Science Association, was invited by Professor LIN Wei to visit on December 22, 2010.
Professor Charvet made a report on Paleozoic tectonic and geodynamic evolution of Chinese Tianshan Belt. He summarized the understanding of Chinese and foreign geologists on the Tianshan Paleozoic orogenic belt, introduced his own nearly a decade of field work on Tianshan Mountains, given a view on the process of orogenic collage and the dynamic mechanism, He discussed with research staff and graduate students in a wide range.
Jacques Charvet is French specialII(the highest)honorary professor. Since 1987, he has been interested mainly in researches on southern China and the Tianshan Mountains - Junggar Basin. That he proposed subduction polarity of the Tianshan and the Junggar plate caused widespread repercussions in international Earth Science.
