At the invitation of Prof. Pang Zhonghe and Prof. Zheng Guodong, Dr. Kirk Nordstrom of USGS visited our institute and presented an academic lecture entitled "Geochemistry of Acid Mine Drainage" on April 9, 2009. After the lecture, he held discussions with staff and graduate students of the Key Laboratory for Geomechanics and toured the SIMS laboratory of our institute.
Dr. Kirk Nordstrom is a senior researcher from the United States Geological Survey-USGS, who has extensive research experience in the geochemistry of acid mine drainage, Arsenic contamination of groundwater and has written very well-known books on chemical thermodynamics including <Geochemical Thermodynamics>, <Environmental Geochemistry> <Groundwater Geochemistry: A Practical Guide to Modeling of Natural and Contaminated Aquatic Systems>.
