The inaugural Earth and Planetary Science Winter Camp took place in Beijing from January 14th to 19th, attracting 98 college students from the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).
The opening ceremony occurred in the report hall on the second floor of Building No. 3 of our institute. Yang Juncheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, warmly welcomed the camp participants on behalf of the institute, providing a detailed overview of its fundamental aspects. Ran Yingzhi, Director of the Admission Office at the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, presented an overview of the university.
Mentors, including Researcher Peng Peng, Senior Engineer Zhang Wenxiu, Associate Researcher Tang Zihua, Researcher Qi Shengwen, Researcher He Fei, Researcher Cao Mingjian, and Researcher Yang Wei, delivered insightful academic presentations during the camp. Additionally, the campers had the opportunity to explore laboratories such as the ion probe laboratory and nano-scale ion probe laboratory, as well as the institute’s history gallery and museums.
Throughout the camp, participants visited institutions, including the College of Earth and Planetary Sciences, the Aerospace Information Research Institute, the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, and the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research.
