Ocean bottom magnetograph self-developed by the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, CAS (IGGCAS) is held sea experiments in the Taiwan Strait on August-September 2012.

The sea trial puts in the magnetograph for 2 times and recovers successfully, which indicates that the project has achieved important progress.

The domestic magnetograph has roughly equal performance with the one developed in 2009 by the Japanese marine research and development institution (JAMSTEC). The domestic magnetograph costs about 150,000 RMB, while the price of similar product imported about from TIERRA Company, Japan, is about 1,500,000 RMB.
