Invited by Prof. Pang Zhonghe Prof. Liu Huihai and Zhou Quanlin from LBNL-ESD visited our institute on 29th Sept. 2009, Two academic lectures were presented during their visit:(1) Overview of the GCS activities and capabilities of Earth Sciences Division;(2)Geologic Carbon Sequestration in the Illinois Basin:From Site Characterization to Full-Scale Deployment.

Prof.Liu Huihai is in charge of the Department of Hydrogeology,and he gave a brief introduction about the Laboratory and the recent research projects of Department of Hydrogeology.He also gave an overview of the research of GCS all over the world and an introduction about his own achievements in this area. Associate Porf. Zhou Quanlin has been carrying out the research of GCS for many years.He gave a detailed introduction about the research of GCS in USA.,especially focused on the research work of LBNL.

Prof. Pang Zhonghe introduced our research development on GCS.More than 50 people including researchers from "863 projects" and students listened to the lectures and made a lively discussion on it. A preliminary cooperation agreement was obtained between our institute and LBNL-ESD,and a meeting entitled "a GCS Symposium Between China and America" is going to be held in Beijing in November.
