Supported by IGGCAS and Qinghai goverment, the 8th International Eclogite Conference was held in Qinghai province from 25th August to 3rd September,2009. Over 120 scientists from 16 countries attended the meeting.
The meeting was chaired by professor Yekai fom IGGCAS who was elected as chairman of the next four years on the meeting. The representatives had a lively discussion on six topics:Mineralogy and petrology of HP-UHP rocks: experimental and natural studies;Geochronology and geochemistry of subduction-zone metamorphism;HP-UHP metamorphic fluids and melts: natural and experimental studies;Orogenic peridotites: protolith nature, metamorphism and metasomatism, mantle geodynamic;From structure geology to tectonics of HP-UHP belts;Understanding subduction/collision processes: HP-UHP terranes in Western China.
It was decided that the 10th and 11th Conference will be held in Italy and Dominican Republic.Litho and Journal of Asian Earth Sciences agreed to publish an album for the conference.
