The First VHF Ionospheric Coherent Scatter Radar in Mainland of China was Set up at Sanya

    The first VHF lonosphere coherent scatter radar in mainland of China was installed in our institute’s Sanya Station during Spring Festival. Researchers from China and Australia worked together to set up this equipment successfully. At present, the new VHF radar have been operating in daily basis. And it will play an important role in ionospheric irregularity observation and investigation in the south of China.

    After the equipment was successfully installed, Sanya Station received a visit from CAS vice president Prof. Ding Zhongli and Prof. Chang Xu,deputy director of the Bureau of Science and Technology for Resources and Environment. Prof. Ning Baiqi, director of the Lab of Space Environment Probing, presented a report to introduce the equipment, and showed the visitors around the station. Prof.Ding and Prof.Chang expressed approval of the station’s achievements and issued directives concerning the future development of the station.
