"The 5th China-Australia Symposium on Remote Sensing Technologies and Sustainability" was jointly held by the Australian Academy of Science (AAS), the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE), and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Canberra, Australia from 24-25 November, 2008.
The conference was attended by professors Fu Bihong and Zheng Guodong and associate professor Xu Xingwang from our institute(IGGCAS), accompanying president Lu Yongxiang of the CAS.
The China-Australia Symposia, which were proposed by Prof. Lu Yongxiang, were inaugurated in 2004. The symposia focus on sustainable development and alternate between China and Australia. The subject of this year’s symposium was remote sensing techniques and sustainable development. Professor Fu Bihong and Dr. James Johnson from Geoscience Australia jointly chaired the workshop on Remote Sensing for Energy and Mineral Exploration.
This symposium was helpful in exploring collaborative opportunities and enhancing cooperation and exchange between Australian and Chinese scientists.
