Research Interests:

Dr. Liu Jiawei is dedicated to interdisciplinary research in the fields of geoscience, chemistry, and biology, with a primary focus on magnetotactic bacteria or iron metabolism-related bacteria. His research prioritizes the "environment-microbe-mineral" interrelations employing a comprehensive range of techniques including mineralogy, electrochemistry, microbiology, electron microscopy, and first-principles simulations. It delves into the influence of environmental factors on the electron transfer processes in microbial mineralization, thereby elucidating the mechanisms of microbial mineralization, manipulating the morphological structures of microbial minerals, and understanding the physiological functions of microbial minerals. Additionally, the morpho-structural characteristics of nanomaterials dictate their properties, and microbial nanomineral materials, embodying both microbial features and nanomineral functions, are applied in in-vitro diagnostics, tumor-targeted therapy, and other fields to address human health-related issues. To date, he has published 49 SCI papers, including 13 academic papers as the first author/corresponding author (including co-first author) in renowned international journals such as Science Advances, Nature Communications, Journal of the American Chemical Society, ACS Nano, and Small. His publications have been cited 2065 times, resulting in an h-index of 25.
